Consultancy Service / Surgeon Theatre Set Up

Eye Scrub Nursing Agency also offer a consultancy service. We have previously established retinal surgical theatres in a couple of Sydney Hospitals. This included working with surgeons and management to identify and acquire equipment and instruments for complex vitreoretinal surgery.

Additionally, we have successfully accommodated the needs of new cataract, corneal and glaucoma specialists to multiple ophthalmic theatres.

We can provide Hospitals with the required specialised onsite nursing support for new or complex surgeries that their current Ophthalmologists wish to perform.

I trained as an operating theatre scrub/scout nurse eighteen years ago in general, vascular, ophthalmic and emergency theatres within the NHS at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, England for five years. I moved to Australia and focused on ophthalmic surgery in major private Sydney ophthalmic units from 2008, commencing at St Luke’s Hospital, and subsequently The NSW Eye Centre at Sydney Private Hospital, Bondi Junction Private Hospital, Sydney Retina and Sydney Surgical Centre. During my time at these Sydney Hospitals, I have enjoyed assisting management in expanding their ophthalmic surgical capabilities. This included the introduction and set-up of new subspecialties to these units.

I am proud to have established Eye Scrub Nursing Agency in April 2021. I always knew there was a gap in the market of nursing agencies for devoted, fully trained and experienced ophthalmic theatre nurses. I am pleased to offer flexible senior ophthalmic agency nurses for day to day shifts or regular block bookings.

With my experience, I also feel excited to offer a consultancy service for facilities that require a higher level of onsite ophthalmic support for new surgeons or existing surgeons wishing to bring more diverse cases to the hospital/extend the surgical scope. In addition, I can provide management with the support in equipment identification and acquisition and the theatre skill set to facilitate a smooth transition for the surgeon and ensure successful, stress-free start-up and implementation.
